Rimmel London Wake me up foundation review

Note; My foundation has been well used, it will look much messier than it originally was.

A while ago, I read a blog review about Rimmel Londons, Wake Me Up foundation, and decided to give it a go. I have to say, I really liked this product. Each bottle has SPF 15 mixed into the 30mls provided. I found that the foundation looked nice on my skin, and wasn't to heavy. I found that the shimmer, that was mixed into the foundation, gave my skin a nice radiant glow, while still keeping it natural. The foundation was easy to buff into my skin without looking caked on. If you are looking for a medium-to-full coverage foundation, I wouldn't recommend this, as it has a sheer coverage. I also wouldn't recommend layering this foundation, as it has shimmer, and if it hits the light you may end up looking like a vampire out of Twilight. The only downside about this foundation is the color selection. My foundation is in the color 100 ivory, and is still a tad too dark for my skin tone.

This is a blurry picture of the tone selection click here to see more

Overall I did like this product, but I would say it suits dry-normal or combination skin, as the shimmer can make oily skin look even more oily than before. Overall though, I do use this everyday as its light and easy to use.

Food truck

Today was one of my great friends, also named Ruby, Birthday dinners. For this dinner we met in town and went out too a rustic, healthy, restaurant called, 'The food truck'. I have too say, I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. I had heard that this place was good, but I didn't expect it too be this good! For my meal, I chose their award winning, 'The Beefroot Burger'. This Burger was made up of pickles, a beef, carrot and beetroot patty, tomato, iceberg, and a yummy sauce. This burger was delicious and didn't leave me feeling stuffed too the brim. If this wasn't enough, it was only $12 and was brought out after only ten minutes, which was spent discussing the unexpected location, in a crowded car park. Afterwards we decided to get an ice-cream  this is where I made the mistake. On the desert menu, they gave you a choice of plain vanilla ice-cream, vanilla and nuts, vanilla and berries, or a mix of both. I originally planned on getting the berry ice-cream, but when it came too ordering, I had heard the nutty one was nice so I went for a mix. Personally  I didn't like this at all and couldn't wait too get too the berry section. That aside, overall I had a great time, loved the food and the prices were amazing. I would recommend The Food Truck, any day.

A little break

Every now and then we all need to put our schedules too the side and enjoy a little day out. This is exactly what I did yesterday! Going out with old friends and grabbing lunch, is a great way to get away and have a little 'you' time. Yesterday I ventured out to Ponsonby Central and grabbed some sushi. I have too say, getting sushi on a hot summers day, might be one of the greatest things. On our journey around Auckland, Michaela and I went too St Lukes, grabbed a milkshake and went too get our nails done. Seeing as we had a lot of catching up too do, walking around the mall and getting makeup sampled on us, was the best way too go. This trip was a great way to get away from my busy life of running around, Christmas shopping. We then went make too her house and relaxed around her bedroom and promised to catch up again soon.

Winter kiss

Hello Bloggers!

This post is mainly for those of you who live in the Northern hemisphere and are lucky enough to get cold Christmases!

To get the perfect winter lip I chose a blue toned, plum color, by Rimmel london. This lipstick has an amazing finish and is wonderful to wear in Autumn or Winter. If you just wanted to go for a cremesheen finish, you can wear this on its own, but too cheer it up a bit, add the Diorific Plastic Shine. By adding the Diorific Plastic Shine in red cheer, it warms up the lipstick and cancels out some of the blue undertone of the orignal lipstick. By canceling out the blue tones this lipstick is more wearable on days out and won't look as harsh against pale skin. Both of these lipsticks work wonders with each other and hardly move at all. The amount of shine can be changed by adding less Diorific Plastic Shine.

Christmas Goodies !

Hello, Bloggers !

Merry 11th of December Bloggers! Not long until Christmas is it? So much to do. And seeing as it is about too be summer holidays in New Zealand, I needed something to give all of my friends as a Christmas/ good-bye present. What better than shortbread?

Easy Shortbread:
  • 150 grams plain flour
  • 100 grams margarine
  • 50 grams caster sugar
  • 6 passion fruit (optional for a summer kick)
  • or 1/4 block of chocolate (any kind with do)

Method

 1. Soften butter and pour into a bowl along with all other ingredients, not including chocolate, (if making with passionfruit, scoop out the inside and mix in).

2. Roll out to about 1/2 cm thick.

3. Cut out little Christmas shapes, (hearts, trees, or stars work well).

4. Bake for 10minutes, or until golden.

This photo is of unbaked shortbread

5. Allow to cool, if not adding chocolate, sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.

6. Melt chocolate and dip half of shortbread into it, (I didn't do this because I was scared they would melt in my bag, but it adds a nicer affect).

7. OPTIONAL : I then put the shortbread into clear bags and tied a ribbon around the top.

Have a very Merry Christmas! Sure too post soon!

The Grammy Awards - Undone

Hello :)
So recently the Grammies nomination list just came out. So for the bloggers that aren't so into Christmas, I wanted to give you a little blog post that will give you a rest. Here I am going to go through some of the Grammy awards and look at the nominees, and say who I want to win, or who deserves to win :)

Record of the year:

Nominations- Get lucky- Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams, Radioactive - Imagine Dragons, Royals - Lorde, Locked out of Heaven - Bruno Mars, Blurred lines- Robin Thicke Featuring T.I. & Pharrell.

And the winner is..... Royals!!

I think that Lorde deserves this award because of the fact that, yes, all of these songs are over played, but to think that last year she was just a normal girl in New Zealand out of all places! The song is also very catchy and different.

Song of the year:

Nominations - Just Give Me A Reason-Pink, Locked Out Of Heaven-Bruno Mars, Roar-Katy perry, Royals- Lorde, Same Love -Macklemore, Mary Lambert & Ryan Lewis.

Drummmm Rollll.... Same Love!I honestly loved this song so much when it came out. I loved how this song had such a relaxed feel but still had such a strong message. I loved this song and found it funny how it was top of the charts that same year that gay marriage became legal in New Zealand.

Best new artist:
Nominations - James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kacey Musgraves,Ed Sheeran.

Ed Sheeran!
Now I find this award very strange as James Blake is defiantly not a new artist and neither is Ed Sheeran. Seeing as I haven't heard to much from Kacey Musgraves or kendrick Lamar, and Ed Sheeran sold out Vector Arena in Auckland, I think he deserves it. He has worked his butt off to get this far and I really want him to get this award!

Best compilation soundtrack for visual media:

Nominations:Django Unchained, Great Gatsby, Les Misérables (Deluxe Edition), Muscle Shoals, Sound City: Real To Reel.

And the Winner is, Great Gatsby!
The Great Gatsby was one of my favorite soundtrack of all time! I think almost everyone had one of these songs on their ipods. I loved the 1920s' feel. My favorite song from this was either '100$ bills' or ' Young and beautiful'. I loved these songs so much and just feel like listening to them right now!

Anyway that's enough for tonight! See you next time!

Merry soon to be Christmas Bloggers!

I am sorry for cramming in a whole load of posts so soon, but schools coming to an end and I guess I use Blogging as a form of procrastination! Here today I will be talking about perfect presents for either a friend, girlfriend, wife, or whoever (preferably feminin). So heres a list to those in desperate need of a nice little present idea!

Here we have a bundle of christmas goodies!

Number one: Victoria secret body mist. These body mists come in a large array of different scents. My personal favorites for Summer is Coconut Passion or Mango temptation, and for Winter would have to be Pure seduction. These are very cheap for what you get, and if you want to spend a little extra there are many gift sets.

Number two: Festive candles. Personally I have heard amazing things about the Bath and Body works  candles that come in amazing scents. I personally like scents that suit the season i.e Fruity ones for summer.

Number three: Nail varnish or Lipstick. Both of these are easy presents to get right. For christmas red lipsticks are a good go to and Mac has an amazing selection. Opi nail varnishes have recently put out a Christmas selection and they would make the perfect gift.

Number four: Lush! Lush is one of my favorite places to go for bath melts or soaps. Recently Lush has put out a load of Christmas goodies that are going fast. One of the problems with lush though is how strong the scents are. If that gift receiver is fussy about scents this wouldn't be the way to go. But lush is still an amazing gift as they do great gifts sets!

Number Five: Festive clothing!  Who doesn't like opening a present to find a warm, wooly, christmas jumper sitting beneath them! These make amazing presents and can get everyone even more into the festive spirit!

Number Six: Christmas decor. Christmas decor is a great way to go and again is hard to go wrong with. When buying decor you don't need to know the persons size or what skin tone they have. Mini christmas trees or bedroom christmas lights are a cute way to go.

I hope you enjoyed this and hope you have a very Merry Christmas! <3

My Summer Lipstick go tos :)

My Summer lipstick must haves ~~

Hello Sweeties! Seeing as it's nearing Summer, (in New Zealand :) Sadly we have a sunny christmas), I decided too post my most often used lipsticks. Seeing as I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and very pale skin, I tend to go towards corals, peaches, and pinks! I also want to through out there that these lipsticks are just my most often used lipsticks that are very wearable. Some of my other lipsticks that I use, (that are brighter), aren't as wearable! Well anyway lets get too it! The list of these lipstick goes from Coral Bliss - Mac, 002 Pink Pout - Revlon, Peach Blossom- Mac. I am sorry that these photos don't completely show the true color of these products but I will soon be updating my camera :) The swatch beneath will show the true colors.

Coral Bliss- Mac, Cremesheen, A warm toned coral color, brings out blue eyes.

Pink pout- Revlon, matte, A long lasting Matte finish to a blue toned pink.

Peach Blossom - Mac, Although this photo makes this lipstick look rather blue toned, but it surely isn't! A perfect pale peach color for a casual day :)

This photo shows a much more in-depth photo of these amazing lippys <3 I hope you enjoy!
